SATURN in SAGITTARIUS, So Long Scorpio! by Zoe Moon

If we harken back to the last time Saturn entered Sagittarius we travel back to 1985. Let's look for some key Saturn/Sagittarius themes, shall we? It was the Fall of 1985. According to Wikipedia, "The media had dubbed this 'The Year of the Spy" due to so many Foreign spies caught on American soil(foreign/political serious issues), Ronald Reagan was in his second term as president, he and Gorbachev were meeting for the first time (foreign/political serious issues). "We Are the World" was recorded and raising funds for famine relief and Live Aid (global/collective political/media/cultural serious issues), and Microsoft released its first version of Microsoft 1.0.(global/media ambitious/leader)"

In popular news, according to Infoplease.com, "Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It" got the Grammy for Record of the Year (an older performer-Saturn is Father Time, with a strong comeback achievement/media/ambitions), "The Color Purple" was rocking the movies (a strong message concerning serious cultural responsibilities), and "Amadeus" took home Oscar gold for film of the year (again about another country, the politics involved and the larger than life personality). Rock Hudson was the first high profile star to die from aids (a global disease that made us face our bigotry), and British scientists reported finding a large hole in the ozone layer (bringing group consciousness over a global issue)."

So Father Time/Saturn in Sagittarius brought a light on age in performance, cultural oppression through media focus, foreign standouts in broadcasting and foreign intrigue that affects the larger community, political messages about breaking down walls and coming together, larger than life issues that taxed our faith and asked that we see a bigger picture in fighting for what we believed in as a whole. I'm sure there are more illustrations of all the Saturn in Sagittarius topics that got into gear starting in 1985 but you get the idea.

So, what does this have to do with you now? I just wanted to set the stage a bit for where we all were the last time Saturn moved into Sagittarius. At this point, most of you are probably just so damn thankful to have Saturn exit it's lengthy tour of Scorpio, that anything else seems like a welcome relief. So let's take a look at what we've been through with our transit of Saturn through Scorpio between 2012-2014 before heading into what is to come. It is going to be very different, while the tests in Scorpio involved purging, upheaval and rebirth, the tests in Sagittarius will involve expansion, beliefs and ideals, here are the two cycles in a nutshell:

Saturn began its massive testing in Scorpio back in 2012 and exits Dec 23rd, 2014. It had not tested us in these areas of life at this level during the 29 years prior to this period. Saturn will exit Scorpio and enter Sagittarius on Dec 23, 2014, return briefly next summer to Scorpio due to a Saturn Retrograde between June-Sept 2015, and then move back into Sagittarius Sept 17, 2015 to tour for the next couple years. Therefore this first Saturn in Sagittarius chapter lasts approximately 5 months, between Dec 23rd, 2014 and June 14th, 2015. So what are we graduating from?

Saturn in Scorpio these past years has tested us the hardest of a 29 year chapter over these Scorpio themes:

1) Death. Have you lost someone significant to you since 2012? Have you had to face mortality in yourself or over others close to you in a way you had not before this period? Did it require more responsibilities, facing limits or getting serious about structures around you?

2) Birth. Did you decide to have a child or not have a child? Has the idea of giving birth been a topic you had to seriously face in some way? Have you had any serious tests regarding your reproductive systems and their transformations, issues or needs during this period?

3) Divorce. Did a union run its course during this period or did you have to come face to face with that potential during this phase and get serious about what it would take to not go down that road? Have you been divorced for years but during this phase finally put that relationship to rest in some new way?

4) Sex. Were there limits on your sex life? Did age begin to factor into sexual liaisons, that May/December combination coming into play or a change in what you were willing to commit to sexually? Did something about your sex life end or did you become way more ambitious about renewing sexual energy? Did you have to face the Scorpio triangle in your sex life or did divorce or financial tests put a strain on your mojo?

5) Major Financial Matters. Did you have to get real about loans, debt, bankruptcy, inheritance, insurance, taxes, investments, settlements, alimony, child support, your partner's money, commissions, or any other major, outside financial resource? Did you go for it or end it, find yourself obsessing over it, feel the pinch, or lose it?

Saturn in Scorpio has not been an easy chapter for anyone because the things Scorpio rules are life and death, weighty, deep matters, so tests and endings here are profoundly felt. Hopefully it has helped us define boundaries and structure things in supportive ways, deal with those limits, endings, achievements, and ambitions so that we are ready for this next chapter. The good thing is that as hard as this chapter has been, it really is supposed to heap the most challenging of it all between the Fall of 2012 and Dec 23, 2014. We will get one last pass here next summer to wrap up the fine points to any of these stories but once we are past the last Retrograde dip back into Scorpio between June-Sept 2015 we will have graduated completely for another 29 years in these matters.

So, Saturn exits this placement and moves into Sagittarius for our first 5 month chapter on Dec 23rd, 2014, where we found him gearing up back in November, 1985.

What was happening in your life then? Wherever Saturn goes, so go the tests and a push to grow up, master something new and take on more responsibilities. Here's a BIG TIP ABOUT SATURN: If you take responsibility, put in the effort, test yourself over the new obligations, limits, endings, commitments, structures, and ambitions in a disciplined fashion, Saturn rewards you over time. If you try to slipshod past it then it gets harder and comes back at you in tougher ways up ahead. Do not try to elude the Saturn in Sagittarius themes coming up for you. So here we go, this is where Saturn was from 1985-88 and will now be again from Dec 23, 2014 - Dec 20, 2017 (with that little 3 month dip back out between June-Sept 2015).

Sagittarius rules:

1) Foreign interests, travel abroad or at great distance, import/export, visitors from afar, and situations/relationships carried out at a distance. Did you challenge yourself through long distance relationships or jetting overseas or picking up a foreign language or starting some import business between 1985-88? Are you ready to test yourself here now, master some new level, end what is no longer serving your greater good, put your ambitions into play here?

2) Higher education. Did you go back to school, drop out, start to learn at home on your own, find out you couldn't go further in your job without a degree, get certification in some area, or decide teaching was for you or it was time to exit the educational job/pursuit between 1985-88? Are you feeling this serious pull now? Are you ready to test yourself here, master some new level, end what is no longer serving your greater good, put your ambitions into play here?

3) Law. Did you learn about incorporating or starting an LLC, sign legal documents that were significant, hire an attorney, get into a lawsuit, decide you wanted to practice law, or get out of this field between 1985-88? Is it time to go there now? Are you ready to test yourself here, master some new level, end what is no longer serving your greater good, put your ambitions into play here?

4) Weddings. Was there a wedding during this period that set up a Karmic cycle with someone, did you decide to get into the wedding business, or was there something else about ceremony that spoke to you between 1985-88, perhaps other cultures ceremonies? Are you ready to get serious about this now? Are you ready to test yourself here, master some new level, end what is no longer serving your greater good, put your ambitions into play here?

5) Religion and Philosophy. Did you redefine your view of religion during that phase, commit to religious ideals or quit a religion? Did you decide to get involved in some leadership way with a religious group? Did your interest in the great philosophers increase or did you start to challenge your philosophical views? Was your faith questioned? What was tested or ambitious here back in 1985-88 and what are you feeling about it now? Is it time to mark endings, boundaries, get more disciplined, commit long term, or master another level?

6) Politics. Did you find a political message to commit to or end a political ideology at this point? Did something on the political front have an impact on your development during that phase between 1985-88? Are you ready to get serious about it now? Are you ready to test yourself here, master some new level, end what is no longer serving your greater good, put your ambitions into play here?

7) Media, marketing, publishing, broadcasting, promoting, advertising, and publicity. Did you get serious about any of these pursuits during this time? Were there adverse affects coming at you from these quarters? Did you decide to master something here? What limits, goals, ambitions, structures, endings, commitments, or leadership abilities did you test yourself over in these matters between 1985-88 and where do you want to go with it now?

Saturn is going to push us all to grow up in these seven areas of life, to master something new, to commit long term or end something, to structure things so they support us and remove structures that do not, to look at any limits or restrictions involved, and to deal with loss, goals, achievements, responsibilities, our leadership, ambitions, or those in authority positions in these matters. Expect to see it on the global stage, the tests through foreign, legal, travel, educational, media, broadcasting, religious, wedding, and political themes as we evolve collectively as well. So farewell to Saturn in Scorpio, (at least until June 2015), and hello to Saturn in Sagittarius, it's time to get real! Here we go again.

What are dreams really? Entire systems of healing and therapy have been developed around scientific research done into REM while entire tribes of people follow the signs and insights born of dreams as the cultural norm. In truth we are far from understanding where we go or what is happening to us one third of our lives when we exit this reality and enter dreamscape.

This weekend is submerged in the dream field, the land of the muse, the place where you do better listening to your subconscious, following your spiritual truths, expressing your artistry, falling into the romance, or working behind closed doors on something you are developing. Well who am I kidding, most of the time this can be good for you but this weekend it rules! If you need to tend to hospital matters, investigate or strategize, fall in a pile and sleep it away, or find some new solution to an addiction the weekend has your name all over it too.

Saturday puts you straight up in the mystic so look for the signs, listen to the inner calling, and let your imagination take hold. You may create a masterpiece or find the answer to some long hidden question by opening up that third eye.

Sunday it will align with third party situations, financial interests, your sex life, the divorce proceedings, career, goals, reputation, fame, and dealing with authority figures so gear it up, here you go.
In between Saturday and Sunday's magical boat ride, Mars and Venus embrace for the first time in Aries since February 1985. Think about that you readers who've been around long enough to remember things that got under way back then, what was going on/getting started in your love life or with your earning potential? You can expect some similarities to arise over this year ahead for you. For those of you too new to the game, we are officially at the BEGINNING of a new love/passion and income/action phase in our lives.

One of the things I truly love about astrology is the insight it gives us into cycles of life so I just had to think about that 28 year span from Feb 1985 to now. Saturn is the planetary energy that travels round the zodiac once every 28-30 years for a cycle so I looked to see what he was doing last time. Low and behold, in February 1985 Saturn was in Scorpio like he is now. Then he sat at 27 degrees and now Saturn is at 9 degrees so we are in a different sphere of ambition, leadership, responsibilities, limits, achievements, and commitments, but the Scorpio tests are again similar for this next cycle. This means as you set off with a lover or to make money, again third party situations, power, control, manipulations, shared finances, sex, divorce, and secrets will be where you will be most tested and where you stand to master the greatest understanding and achieve by overcoming any dark side. Since you've done a round or two of this already, be conscious of what you are choosing and let this cycle be the PHOENIX rather than the SNAKE side of Scorpio for you. Note that Saturn will cross the 27th degree of Scorpio on Nov 27-Dec 5 of 2014 so if there is any hangover from the past cycle that you are still trying to wrap up that end date may be significant. Also note that the 9th degree that Saturn sits now will be crossed by Venus on September 19, 2013 and by Mars on August 11-13, 2014. These two periods will coincide with activity in your love life or income potential and commitments, endings, achievements, authority figures, limits, leadership, and responsibilities.

For those of you that have been reading my writings on astrological trends you may remember last June 2012 we had a rare transit of Venus across the face of the Sun. One that I wrote about then saying, "On the 5th and 6th of June VENUS MAKES HER RARE TRANSIT ACROSS THE FACE OF THE SUN and officially marks the beginning of a new 243 year love and income cycle in our souls journey." It was a powerful time that began the transition from one group of souls we'd been sharing love or money flow with over the last two hundred plus years of incarnation to another. Haven't found that person yet or the new direction? It hasn't even been a year into the new cycle so don't fret, this Mars/Venus embrace may be the push you need to get it going. Like I said, it's the first time they've embraced in the beginning sign of Aries since 1985 so it's their first get together since the rare transit kicked us into a new cast of characters or opportunities. If you have found someone already then you may come together on something now that will begin defining this new direction.

Since the Venus/Sun transit last year in June occurred on the 15th degree of Gemini it may be important to make a note on your calendar around April 18-23 when Jupiter the bringer of luck, happiness, prosperity, and expansion will cross this 15th degree of Gemini. As always with astrological templates you are encouraged to be proactive, work with these dates and put yourself out there or do something that can start the ball rolling.

The big boys...Saturn and Jupiter...They have plans for you this weekend! One wants restriction, limits, hard work, and step by step achievements. One wants expansion, adventure, prosperity, and following ones beliefs. They are meeting up on Saturday in an inconjunct which means they must make a big adjustment to one another...which yes, means you will be making a big adjustment in your life regarding where they have taken root in your chart.

Saturn took 29 years to get here, Jupiter took 12 years. So, when it comes to regeneration, power, triangles, life, death, divorce, major finances, sex, and reproduction, Saturn wants serious commitments or endings, more structure or limits in place, achievements, and slow and steady efforts. When it comes to decisions, agreements, writing, sales, your local interests, neighborhood, neighbors, siblings, moves, mindset, talks, meetings, vehicles, electronics, and ideas, Jupiter wants something bigger. Perhaps you need to share your wisdom, make it legal, broaden your horizons in far off places, or take a leap of faith.

Your question this weekend is how you can have both, what concessions or adjustments can you make or yield to that can satisfy both energies? Listen carefully, it's a turning point. These forces will either hold you back or take you forward and a lot depends on your ability to seize the day by showing up and doing the work in the Saturn field while pursuing your sense of adventure and growth needs in Jupiter's field. Saturn is not going to let you brush off your duties or responsibilities and Jupiter is pulling you hard enough that to disregard your wanderlust would be tantamount to drowning in that Piscean sea of weepy Karma. Show up and do the work.

Besides the Saturn/Jupiter inconjunct, Saturday the Leo Moon holds sway which stimulates recreational interests, creative flow, time with children, or pursuit of love. You will have a NEED to feel something here but again, the universe has put adjustment energy in place so there has to be a give and take. Today this involves Pluto so some deep emotions may come to the surface. There may be a need to purge or something buried may surface so that positive change and evolution can occur. What goal or person in power are you looking at today and what exactly is being deconstructed in your life to be reborn up ahead? Somehow it is important that you figure out just how the kids, lover, creativity, or fun is going to work in this progression. Guard against manipulations or third party situations that try to obscure your direction.

Sunday the Virgo Moon takes over. Virgo is the organizer, simplifier, hypochondriac, puritan, holistic guru, healer, workaholic, and of service to a higher calling. We all have a bit of Virgo in our charts and today a focus on work efforts, health, animals, environment, or paperwork will take hold. A-freaking-GAIN, we have adjustments. Apparently we really need to get it together. This Moon adjusts to Venus and the Sun in their new placements in Aries so you need to get your lovely butt in gear, get active, do something physical to make a bit of a shift towards what you want here. Tackle body, image, brand, or identity needs in the mix and focus on the love or income needs you have in the whole kit and kaboodle. 

The opposition to Neptune will mean a one-on-one with at least one key person today regarding work, paperwork, health, pets, or services. Will it be inspirational, magical, artistic, romantic, and spiritual, or will it be depressing, weepy, Karmic, deceptive, or confusing? ZOE MOON ASTROLOGY WEEKLY HOROSCOPE FORECAST FEB 18-24

It's a week of RETROGRADES. So what does the energy out there want from us exactly?

1)SATURN is the lord of time, he demands discipline, ambition, limits, structure, dedication, commitment, and is absolutely final with endings. He is the lord of Karma teaching lessons and pushing us to master some new level of understanding or experience. Step up to his demands when he holds sway and your prize is mastery over yourself and your goals, shuck and duck his demands and he is known for heaping on the burdens until you feel his alchemical lead like an anchor around your soul. Don't f#!k with Saturn.

He entered Scorpio back in October 2012 and will tour this energy field until 2015 and here his lessons and ambitions revolve around shared financial interests such as loans, inheritance, bankruptcy, insurance policies, taxes, commissions, royalties, settlements, investments, debt, alimony, child support, partner's money, and any other monetary flow that is not your personal income. Scorpio also rules sexual attractions and issues, reproductive needs, triangles, power, control, manipulations, deep soul connections, divorce, and death. And you wondered why we've had so much going on of late?!
Saturn's Retrograde on Monday will shift the perspective over these topics, it will give you some time to breathe and catch up to where you find yourself at present, it may bring past issues or needs back up to be addressed, and will urge you to do some inner work to get yourself together over pending commitments and endings.

2)MERCURY is the god of information, he is quick witted, interested in everything, up to the learning curve as long as it's not too arduous, he's flirtatious, youthful, a prankster, and by nature the middleman between man and god. What you say, pitch, write, sell, drive, sign, negotiate, think, do locally, in nearby towns, with siblings, neighbors, electronics, or ideas is Mercury's domain. When he is Direct you are moving ahead on new topics in these areas. When he Retrogrades you slow down, let go of what is not working, revisit the past to see if some situation, person or idea can be revised, reworked, released, or recommitted to, and you may experience some miscommunication, transportation or mechanical malfunctions, or complete reversals of mind. Because of this you should try to hold off on major decisions or signing new contracts until after March 17th if it is possible to do so without damaging your opportunities.

Mercury is Retrograding in Pisces. Pisces rules our subconscious, the hidden part of our lives, where the muse exists, imagination comes to life, the veil between worlds is thinnest, and our intuition and psychic abilities are heightened. This is the field of art, music, film, magic, meditation, yoga, spiritual pursuits, and the place of isolated healing, hospitals, dealing with addictions, boundary issues, hidden agendas, bad habits, and clandestine affairs. Time in development, research or investigations are favored through this field as well. Pisces is the other Karmic arena, Mercury backtracking here will bring the past back around in all or some of the above topics and help us rethink, revise or release while reconnecting with what we would like to reclaim and carry forward up ahead.

Having Mercury Retrograde in Pisces is like having a truth serum on hand, one that will be working through you as well. Secrets will have a way of slipping out like greased campaign slogans from a drunk politician. Karmic connections and balancing that has been under wraps or held back will come hammering down the tracks and exploding into the light of day however unstable they may at first seem under this backwards motion.

SO.............what should we be feeling about all of this? My best advice to you is take it slow, allow in the week ahead that people and situations will be coming off the hinges in some ways or that your past will be knocking on your door and asking for donations. It is what is meant to be happening because something has been left out, it's a puzzle, your life puzzle, so what is it? What do you need to tweak, rewrite, rethink, recommit to or end, reverse, release, or reevaluate? The wise soul will not let the slowdowns on projects or relationships frustrate since it is written in the stars at present that anchor has been dropped. Stop, look around, you've accomplished a great deal, now what needs more detail and attention, more magic and imagination, more Karmic balancing or opportunity? Free Will means you can choose what you say yes to and what gets a 'no'.
