Well, what can I say, it sure looks like a Plutonic week ahead, ramping up and active every day but Wednesday and Saturday. What does this mean for us? With so much talk out there about the financial institutions and the US dollar I thought I’d take a look at any patterns that might be in replay to see if we should be concerned. Back in the early days of our union here in America we had what was called ‘The Panic of 1837” which created a financial depression. Almost 100 years later we entered ‘The Great Depression” in 1929.

So, do they connect? You betcha. You would assume that if a country was having financial issues then there should be issues going on with: 1) Pluto, ruler of the financial market and power structures, 2) the Moon, ruler of the people but also rules the sign Cancer, the sign of the United States and the U.S.’s house that rules financial matters for the country, and 3) Mercury, natural ruler of commerce and the U.S. ruler of the leadership and direction the country would be going.

So, what were these frictional patterns and are they repeating again? For those of you into the charts I’m using Solar Arc progression so when I speak of it that is what I’m doing. Back in 1837 the U.S. progressed Moon had progressed to the 25th degree of Aries, a cardinal sign which means it is an initiator. This Moon was thus applying to square (a frictional pattern) the nations birth Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn, also a cardinal initiator sign, for the first time. At the same time, the nations progressed Pluto was precisely on the 25th degree of Pisces, the nation’s 4th house door (end of all matters). Mercury was progressed upon the nation’s Neptune adding a dissolving or deceptive quality to the story.

In astrology the first challenge is the first square as described above, the next challenge is the opposition, the final challenge is the final square. So in 1837 we had the first challenge; the first square. I began progressing the chart forward to find when it would be in opposition and lo and behold, on Oct. 29, 1929, the nation’s progressed Moon was now at 27 degrees of Cancer, a cardinal sign which means it’s an initiator, now opposing the nation’s birth Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn, also a cardinal sign, and we have the Great crash and Depression begin. Progressed Pluto was forming a tense inconjunct with the birth position of Pluto, progressed to the 27th degree of Gemini to the birth position of 27 degrees of Capricorn. Mercury and Neptune were also forming this tense progressed inconjunct to their own birth positions.

So when do we look for the final square? We really have been in the applying stage for the last few months and in the week ahead will have the Moon progressed on the 26th degree of Libra, a cardinal initiator sign, squaring the nation’s birth Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn, also a cardinal initiator sign, while it also makes a tense inconjunct alignment to the nation’s birth Moon at 26 degrees of Aquarius. Progressed Pluto is on the 27th degree of Virgo trining the nation’s birth Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn, and at almost 24 degrees, Mercury is progressed in an applying mode to the nation’s 4th house door/end of all matters.

Why do I bring it up this week? Because I think we all need to prepare a bit in case of emergency, get advice from qualified financial experts you trust and have a back-up plan in case we go down this road the last square in the circle. Closing squares, which this one is, can be less event-oriented than opening squares but seeing that in the last days we’ve heard of 143 million Americans having their information stolen on Equifax, coupled with a major drop in Bitcoin, you can see that these pressures are being felt. We are in a volatile window, it will take the Moon until mid-February to reach the 27th degree by progression to perfect the square with Pluto and the Moon will then stay on this degree for a year so do some inventory of where you are and if you need to shore up any part of your preparedness plans, better safe than sorry. 

Oh, and I almost forgot, the reason I decided to talk about this for our week ahead is that we’ve all been going through the frictional energy pattern between Uranus, Jupiter and Pluto as they’ve been in a T-square this last year. Uranus and Jupiter will form their very last opposition across the sky this Wednesday/Thursday, at the same time Pluto comes out of his slumbers and goes Direct. Are you ready for this?! Uranus will be on the 27th degree of Aries, a cardinal initiator sign, in square to the nation’s birth Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn. Jupiter will be on the 27th degree of Libra, a cardinal initiator sign, in square to the nation’s Pluto at 27 degrees of Capricorn. And Pluto will be going Direct opposite the nation’s Sun, in an applying square to the nation’s Chiron and away from it’s square to the nation’s Saturn. So, this week may trigger more for us. Please consult financial experts before doing whatever you want to do, it’s tricky out there right now.

The Jupiter/Uranus opposition has brought about allies and enemies on the global stage, Jupiter making it big and about Jupiter themes: politics, religion, education, the media, travel, foreign interests, legal matters, or publishing, while Uranus has made it volatile, unstable, unpredictable, bringing sudden changes or shake-ups, with an impact on Uranus ruled themes; the internet (EMP attacks or hackers?), causes, gatherings, groups, rebellions, radicals, shock, and surprise. So it’s amping up to this last square through the week ahead with a peak on Wednesday/Thursday. With Pluto shifting direction in the middle of it his themes are front and center and shifting gears as well: financial matters, power, triangles, manipulations, sexual matters, death, and control, coming out of slumber and shifting gears towards the next thing. So we could have confrontations or turnarounds in any of these areas.

Finally, as far as being prepared, Uranus is associated with sudden and shocking changes and therefore has also been linked to earthquake activity and other earth upheavals, Pluto is evident when we have death and destruction and Jupiter, well he takes things big, so avoid dangerous places and have your home kit together in case there is a shake-up in your neck of the woods. It seems we’ve already had some major events in these areas in the build-up stage, don’t be caught off guard.

MONDAY and TUESDAY bring frictional energy between work, co-workers, hired help, health, pets, paperwork, organizing, or cleaning, and the legal, travel, educational, media, marketing, wedding, religious, or political matters. You’ll want to get serious here about limits, responsibilities, endings, long-term commitments, or ambitions in the mix.

WEDNESDAY the door opens up to partners, clients, specialists, representatives, or the opposition regarding these legal, travel, educational, media, marketing, wedding, religious, or political themes.

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY the final Jupiter/Uranus opposition peaks and we turn a corner with or about that partner, client, specialist, agent, attorney, opponent, competitor, or advocate regarding legal, travel, educational, media, marketing, wedding, religious, or political interests, and how we feel about our own needs.
