December opens on a boost of energy aimed at travel plans, situations at a distance, legal needs, higher education, media ventures, marketing ideas, weddings, other ceremonies, or your religious or political experiences. This is thanks to New Moon momentum in play as the month arrives and helping us start anew or take things into the next chapter in these areas through the 12th. Mercury will join this story on the 9th through the 28th so he brings news, offers, talks, meetings, agreements, sales, writing, interviews, and decisions into play in these areas.
The biggest news of the month is that Jupiter is heading into Capricorn for the first time in 12 years starting on the 2nd. Jupiter wants to take things big and in Capricorn he will be aiming this at personal goals, the career, fame, notoriety, status, the boss, the parent, the judge, the leaders, or other authority types, as well as at responsibilities, limits, endings, long-term commitments, timing and time involved, discipline, and ambitions. At the same time, Jupiter themes of travel, legal, educational, media, marketing, politics, philosophy, religion, and ceremonies will now be in the structured, authoritative field of Capricorn which means we will have to be disciplined, play by the rules or structure things so they are solid and support us. So, we should watch what is transpiring near this shift and start to look at how this new position may impact us between now and when Jupiter exits Capricorn next year on December 19th, 2020.
On the world stage Capricorn is in charge of leaders, corporations, countries, the system in general, and is already hosting Saturn, ruler of limits, endings, achievements, commitments, structure, responsibilities, and ambitions, and Pluto, ruler of death and transformation, power, control, triangles playing out, sex, and the financial systems. So, Jupiter entering the game takes the powerful changes going on here to a much bigger level and introduces all of Jupiter’s themes into the story; law, media, politics, religion, education, media, and ceremonies, it’s going to be one whopper of a year, folks.
Jupiter’s last passage through Capricorn between 2007-2008 brought quite a shake-up in the financial market and the political situation, as an example of how things can work under this combination. For us, there will be a need to find balance between Jupiter’s idealism and need to go big and expand horizons with Capricorn’s reality check and need to structure or restrict. If you can find a happy medium you may find this is the year you find the support with these Jupiter areas of life and the happiness you’ve been seeking with your position in life, but you probably might struggle with things if you try to buck Capricorns rules and regulations. On a side note, Saturn is now on his way to a rare, once in a lifetime meeting with Pluto in Capricorn which begins on the 6th and perfects by the 12th of January. This huge merging of powerful planetary influences occurs while Uranus goes Direct and we have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on the 10th of January, all while Jupiter crosses the Karmic South Node and is within orb of Saturn and Pluto during this 6th-12th of January window, taking it bigger!!! So, my hunch is we will know sooner than later, between Jan 6th-13th (the Sun gets involved on the 13th), what is going to rock our world with all of this and what we are working with in 2020 under the ongoing connection they will all be making. And if for some reason things transpiring on the world stage are kept away from the population (unlikely but possible) we would know by the second-third week of March when Mars moves across the degrees involved in this conjunction. This will take things over the top when it comes to deconstructing the situation and rebirthing it in some way or things will fire up and get aggressive/active. So, to wrap up this long explanation, we are heading into a big change, one that we began to experience in 2008 with Pluto’s move into Capricorn, got more intense between 2012-2015 as Uranus warred with Pluto there, got serious with Saturn entering Capricorn and the game in 2018 and is now at the apex early 2020 as Saturn and Pluto lock in in Capricorn, while Jupiter and Uranus support the new paradigm. Lots of folks have already started to make the life changes in the last few months of 2019, with Saturn going Direct mid-September 2019 and starting his journey to meet Pluto by Jan 12th, this 4-month window began to make it more clear that certain things that may have been long-time structures or support systems in our lives were not going to stay the same. So, if you’ve been moving towards what is new or next then you should be a good way along the course this is going to take and if you have been trying to hold onto something that wants to change or exit then this might be a bit challenging for you, and we may all start to feel that this is heading to some bigger pivotal turning point as soon as Jupiter enters this territory on Dec 2nd. As far as the world stage, whatever this is we are all going to be in it together, let’s pray for powerful, uplifting transformation and let’s have our own ducks in a row, being prepared for what may come.
This is not the only thing going on in Capricorn this month. On the 15th Jupiter will form a harmonic with Uranus in Taurus, again a first this lifetime, helping us to get into the groove with that serious travel, legal, educational, media, ceremonial, religious, or political goal and what’s innovative, exciting, unexpected, or involves groups, friends, the internet, or other social interests with income, purchases, values, the things we are building, or our possessions. By the 21st the Sun heads into this territory kicking off a 30-day cycle that spotlights our own personal or physical needs and urges us to start showing up and getting more involved with these goals, career needs or authority figures. Then early morning on the 26th Eastern / late evening on the 25th Pacific we have a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn which is 3 times more powerful than the norm when it comes to launching us forward into something new or next level with personal goals, career or authority figures. It may help eclipse out what is blocking this next chapter as part of that fresh start as well, helping us in the big push towards whatever is coming together in January as the planets meet in Capricorn. It’s also interesting to note that this Eclipse is sharing a degree with Jupiter so it is even bigger than the norm for potential to go big and involve some of our Jupiter topics. Finally, on the 28th Mercury heads into Capricorn so he’ll help us wrap the month with more news, talks, meetings, short trips, writing, agreements, sales, offers, local activities, or decisions about these goals, career interests or that boss, parent, judge, director, mentor, or other higher-up.
There is a Full Moon on the 12th in Gemini so at this point in the month something is peaking. There can be big news or an important talk or meeting taking place, a big sale or something culminating with the writing, a big interview or audition, something going on with a short trip or neighborhood activity, or something climaxing with a brother, sister, neighbor, move, vehicle, or electronic. As with all Full Moon’s emotions may run high as you achieve, wrap things up, mark endings, or celebrate in these areas.
Finally, Chiron has been Retrograde in Aries since July and now, between the 12th and 13th Chiron shifts gears and starts going Direct again. So, when it comes to our own personal vulnerabilities or physical wounds, our ego or identity issues, or angry need to wound others based on our own sense of self-lack, we are now done with the period of letting go or reworking things and are now back in forward motion into the next round of this transit. Between now and April 4th of 2020 Chiron will be moving forward over the degrees (topics/situations) that we reviewed or released during his Retrograde so we may be making moves forward over situations that we got caught up in then during these months ahead. From April 4th until July 12th any new wounds or vulnerabilities will be introduced next year so we can then attempt healing or the helping of others.
